Yuck. The only pet store food I’d ever recommend would be Oxbow’s Regal Rat. Mazuri is the best commercial lab block you’ll find but I’m still not satisfied with it.

Menadione Sodium Bisulfate isn’t just toxic to rats. It’s a synthetic form of vitamin k shown to possibly cause health problems in animals in general. Unfortunately, there isn’t ANY commercial rat diets right now without this included since rats require a pretty high level of vitamin k.

I can’t believe someone recommended Kaytee in the answers. That’s even worse than Brown’s (they put ethoxyquin in their foods, a dangerous preservative).

It’s so strange that you mentioned this food! I was actually just reading the ingredients on this yesterday, in Petsmart, who also sells it. I wanted to see if we had any food there that was any good. Mazuri was all they had.

& Kaytee is not a very good food.

the Menadione Sodium Bisulfate is toxic for rats, so I’ve come to know..as well as that food being overloaded with sugar. eep. stay far far away from that one!

Stop buyinh it for your rats!! Get Kaytee Dental BItes food. It’s much healthier and it helps to keep your rats teeth trim as well! My gerbil loves it!

why dont you just give him lettuce and carrots
