I was on a search for great dog food because I want my dog to live as long as possible especially if I could help it. I recently bought Halo: Spot's Stew Wild Salmon Recipe because it doesn't have any by-products, no soy, gluten, etc. When you first open the bag it smells like salmon and has little pieces of dried salmon, peas and carrots. My dog is usually so picky but he loved this stuff!

Ingredients:

Salmon, whole dry egg, pea protein, oats, vegetable broth, pearled barley, chicken fat (preserved with mixed tocopherols and citric acid), pea flour, chicken liver, whole salmon, flaxseed, salmon oil (preserved with mixed tocopherols), pea fiber, sweet potatoes, apples, blueberries, green beans, carrots, cranberries, zucchini, alfalfa, inulin, calcium sulfate, potassium chloride, taurine, salt, folic acid, zinc proteinate, iron proteinate, cobalt proteinate, copper proteinate, manganese proteinate, vitamin A supplement, vitamin D3 supplement, vitamin E supplement, choline bitartrate, niacin, pantothenic acid, ascorbic acid, riboflavin supplement, thiamine mononitrate, pyridoxine hydrochloride, lactobacillus acidophilus, bifidobacterium longum, enterococcus faecium, lactobacillus plantarum, calcium iodate, biotin, sodium selenite

I havent had to get puppy food for ages either but I think a raw food natural diet is better for any dog. Its amazing how much of a difference it makes to their health, energy, coat etc... and its probaly the best preventitive for later life illnesses.

I would definately reccomend seeing a Holistic vet or getting in contact with ine on the net and getting a recipee for a home made, fresh, natural diet. At first it seems a pain to make it up yourself but you can find a way that suits you. I make it up in bulk and freeze portions to last 2weeks. If you really care about your dogs health this is the BEST thing you can do for your dog. But if you cant make it up for yourself apparently there are some brands out there that can come close. Ask your holistic vet.

I haven't had to buy puppy food in a long time, but with any food that you buy for your dog (and yourself), you want to make sure it is natural. Of the options you listed, the Blue Buffalo Chicken & Brown Rice Puppy Food looks the most natural - it has the least amount of ingredients as well. This is what I look for when I buy my dog food. Personally, I buy Trader Joe's brand, because it is natural and not too expensive! Hope this helps!!!

4 was my regular brand - gave my dogs beautiful coats and pristine health. Now that my store can't get it from their supplier, I have switched to Techni - Cal
