Wellness is a pretty good food..the only thing I don't like about Wellness is that their quality is going down and the price is going up. I would recommend Lotus puppy or Merrick puppy.

Hey,
My name is Estefani.
I think you should switch to Proplan(Purina).
They ONLY sell it in Pet smart and Pet co.
NOT EXPENSIVE ok.
You know why because:

I love proplan. And you can't get it at the store i tell you -- that's purina one and the lesser purina brands.

Proplan is made of all US ingredients. It was one of the few brands that was not recalled in the last wheat gluten scare

iT IS GOOD!
AND PLEASE SEND A PIC OF YOUR POMERIAN AND ILL SEND MINE THANKS

Ok well bill-jack is def. out because it has corn in it. you don't want any food with wheat, corn, yeast, soy, or any "additives/fillers"

My dogs were are on blue buffalo but my Mix breed dog has some yeast issues and skin allergies so I am considering Wellness Core since it has a lot of "GOOD BACTERIA" added to it. The less ingridients they have USUALLY the better. In this instance Blue buffalo and Wellness are good brands, primarily Wellness.

The first ingridients are what is included most. So for both Blue buffalo and Wellness you have your deboned chicken, chicken meal and then a grain. So those are the main 3 ingridients. Then Blue buffalo goes off onto other things and you don't have any meat for a while until you get down to Fish meal whereas with wellness you have Salmon meal as the 5th ingredient. So more than likely you are getting all of the recommended meat in Wellness whereas in Blue Buffalo you might not be.

If your dog does have skin issues down the road you should really consider Blue buffalo Fish and Potato or Wellness Core Ocean Formual. They both have a lot of added "Good Bacteria". By this it means the live bacteria which you find in yogurt (Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bacillus subtilis, Bifidobacterium thermophilium, Bifidobacterium longum... etc!

Also a lot of skin related issues do come from wheat, soy, corn, and sometimes even grain. That is why it is recommended to stay away from that junk, it is not even necessary in a dogs diet, they just use it as a filler to use less meat!

I hope this helps, the best of luck to you. (Also I was looking at the price difference between blue buffalo and Wellness. Blue buffalo 15lb bag for about $27 and Wellness 26lb bag for $45.95 , in the end you end up paying more for blue buffalo for price per pound.

Either Wellness or Blue Buffalo.

Bil-Jac has corn, brewers yeast, cane molasses, sodium propionate, and BHA in them. Corn and yeast can cause allergies. Sugar is not good for dogs. And both sodium propionate and BHA are preservatives and you definitely don't want to get this because of the chemical preservative, BHA.

Nature's Recipe's risky ingredients are wheat and menadione sodium bisulfite. Wheat can cause allergies and menadione sodium bisulfite is a synthetic form of Vitamin K which in high doses is lethal. Even though it is a small amount, I wouldn't risk giving it to my dog.

Of your list blue buffalo is the best for small dogs but I prefer royal canin mini puppy 33. I breed chihuahuas and it does very well for them. I am listing the exact link.

I would go with #4. We use a natural-based dog food, for all three of our dogs, a Yorkshire Terrier, a Great Dane and a lab mix. We've used the same brand (Diamond Brand) since they were puppies, and they are all in great health. We exercise them all, based on their needs, and they have great bone and weight health. Your best bet would to be to contact your vet and see what they recommend. I know a lot of vets carry Hill's Science Diet, but that is not always what they recommend.
