the way to tell if a dog food is good or bad is to look at the first ingredient. If it is a meat product then it is a good food but if corn or meal are first and not the meat then it is not the ideal food to be feeding. this one above is a good food to feed a dog... p.s. the worsrt food to feed a dog is Old Roy.. its walmarts brand of dog food and is like 80% waste so the will have to go more without getting good nutrition

Here's the review from:

Pros: First two ingredients are named meat products, uses predominantly good quality grains, whole vegetables.
Cons: Minimum acceptable meat content, some filler.

The first ingredient in the food is a named meat product, as is the second. Since the first is chicken inclusive of its water content (about 80%) and once that is removed it is likely that this ingredient would be more accurately placed somewhat further down the ingredient list (ingredients are listed in order of weight). Note that this is an example of the practice of “splitting” (see note on main page), but in this case serves to increase our level of confidence in the amount of meat product in the food.

The next four ingredients are all grains – two forms of rice and barley. All except rice bran (filler) are quality grains. We appreciate the use of whole fruits and vegetables in the food, but would prefer to see the use of whole eggs rather than egg product.

Overall this is a reasonably good food, and unlike some other formulas of the brand, does not include controversial ingredients such as beet pulp.

Choosing the right food can be a challenging ordeal. ?
?The amount you feed your dog and the type of food depends on breed, size, age, activity and health. Whatever you do, stay away from the cheap brands; they may fill your dog up, but not with a healthful diet of food. Also, it doesn't hurt to rotate brands between two or three brands every 4 to 5 months or so, just to get well balanced diet; but make the change over gradually in 25% change over every 4 days until you get to 100% change over.?
?I'd first start reading the information from this site:...?
?I'd also read this site:#...?
?Then I'd compare the different brands of foods at this site: go to upper right column and click on the double arrows.?
?For my ZOE (R Ridgeback) I feed her what I consider the best food on the market - Innova Adult in the bright green 33# bag (about $42.00) and can (about $15 per case of 12). She's 75#'s and she runs (10 to 18 mph) from 0.5 to 2.0 miles a day (mostly 1.0 mile). She gets 3.5 oz. of dry plus 1 oz of can twice a day (usually at 7 AM and 6:30 PM) plus about 4 to 6 pieces of popcorn chicken during the day and 3/4 to 1 oz of dry or can food just before bedtime; sometimes a very thin slice or two of turkey instead. Sometimes I'll give her some table scrap from my food, but only a teaspoon and lick the plate as long as there are no onions.?
?The foods I rotate ZOE on are Chicken Lover's Soup (it's not soup) and esp. Eagle Pack (Tuna, Salmon & Shrimp Formula).?
?Hope this helps you.?Jim?jollyjim@flash.net

Well, you could do better, but sounds much better than most dog foods...

I recommend getting a dog food that is grain free. Grains are the number 1 cause of dog allergies, skin issues, recurring ear infections, etc.

Evo has a grain free formula, so does Nature's Variety... There are others you can find by googling: dog + food + grain free

Here is Evo's website, so you can compare the ingredients.

Good luck.

Sounds good to me. All dogs like different foods, but that pretty much hits everything haha.

In case that doesn't work for your dog (he/she may not like it), I use IAMS, but I have a Goldie and an English Setter. I'm not sure what kid of dog you have, but IAMS is very reliable.
