He will only eat canned food. :)

He’s been eating Nutrience Senior formula for about 2 years. The ingredients are: Chicken, chicken broth, chicken liver, oceanfish, brown rice, brewers dried yeast, sunflower oil, guar gum, carrageenan gum, dried kelp, potassium chloride, calcium carbonate, choline chloride, ascorbic acid (vitamin C), glucosamine sulfate, chondroitin sulfate, rosemary extract, thyme, taurine, vitamin A acetate, vitamin D3 supplement, vitamin E supplement, niacin, zinc proteinate, zinc sulfate, yucca schidigera extract, iron proteinate, iron sulfate, manganese proteinate, manganese sulfate, copper proteinate, copper sulfate, calcium pantothenate, thiamine mononitrate, pyridoxine hydrochloride, riboflavin, folic acid, menadione sodium bisulfite complex (source of vitamin K activity), biotin, sodium selenite, vitamin B12 supplement.

I’m trying to decide between Innova Reduced Fat, and Felidae’s senior formula. Which do you think is better?

Science Diet is recognise to be the best food for cat and it is only available from the vet. Otherwise I know that Felidae is a good one. I don’t know about Innova.

Hi’

Very happy you have a smart cat that will only eat canned.

The ingrediants don’t look so bad especially with chciken and chicken broth the furst 2 ingredians. I also see no gluten which is good. Your cat can do without the brewers rice.
“Adult; cat foods uusally cut down on the protein and I do not personally believe that is what is needed for a carnivore. Also, your cat isn’t that old and I hope he’s around into his 20’s.
If you want to go to a higher quality. wellness or merrick would be great choices as they are human grade and don’t contain the grains which your cat doesn’t need

I really don’t think your cat needs a “senior” formula. I have 17, 16 and 13 year old cats and they eat quite a number of different varieties plus a raw meat diet I prepare for them as dinner every day.

I use Natural Balance, Avoderm, Lick Your Chops, Nature’s Variety Instinct (the last two for lamb protein), CA Natural and Evanger’s. They don’t like Felidae, Merrick, Newmann.

I really like the raw meat the best for them. I don’t know about all that guar gum, rice, fish meal etc. The raw meat is just straight ground meat with a supplement for calcium, some B vitamins and salmon oil. I use the livers and hearts from the organic chicken and turkey too – extra taurine and Vitamin A.

give him the senior formula. the serving sizes are less for senior food anyway. seniors can need some more nutrients again, so it’s best to give them the old-cat food

never heard of them but science plan senior is good dry food
