After a lot of web research on independent dog food ratings, I feel I chose the most highly rated with Natural Balance (Dick Van Patton’s) kibble and supplement that with the all natural meaty one in the tube. I used to buy it at an independent pet store and have just located it at PetCo. I think if you do your internet search you will agree with me.

Raw meat diets or even cooked home prepared meals for your dog are so much better than any commercial food you can get. Go to and read Dr. Jean Hovfe’s article titled “Easy Homemade Diets for Cats and Dogs”. Their are a good number of Yahoo groups who feed their dogs this way. Go to Yahoogroups.com and put in a search for canine BARF (biologically appropriate raw food).

I tried a while back to tell people the truth of commerical dog food and I got back was criticism. Commerical foods are awful, incluging Eukanuba, Iams, Science Diet (absolute worse). People need to read ingredients and understand what they are actually feeding their pets. Most of the commerical food have the preservatives BHA, BHT, and the deadly pesticide Ethoxyquin and all three are carcinogens and banned from human food. I have researched dog foods for over a year after wanting to understand why dogs are so sick and do not live as long. Life’s Abundance is one of the absolute best purest and healthiest foods you can feed. I am so sorry you had to find out the horror of dog foods the hard way and really hope Gigi recovers fully. My dog get Life’s Abundance with a mixture of raw meats and both are doing so much better. I also treat my dogs holistically after learning the horrors of alot of the medicines prescribed by vets(like some of the vaccines which only destroy the immune system and most are bonded with mercury).

I found out the hard way, like you, only my cat died from his bladder stones that were caused by Purina Indoor Formula. It is disgusting what they sell us. I make homemade cat and dog food now. I refuse to feed my babies dead shelter and zoo animals.

Try to use your knowledge of English to form actual sentences. Also, use a dictionary to look up the meanings of words that you don’t understand, so you can form sentences that mean something. Also, ask a question.

Perhaps the problem is the internet god knew you’d post a question about dog food in the cats section. Or maybe you fed your cat dog food.
